Friendship Link

A group of four recently returned from a visit to Port Elizabeth Soroptimists.  While they were there they helped celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Chatering of Port Elizabeth Soroptimists.

It was a particularly important to Birkenhead that some members of the club attend as the club has been chartered be Miss Elizabeth Glen-Dobie, a member of S.I. Birkenhead, a past Federation President.

The Friendship Link between the two clubs is very strong and the presentation of an album "The Story of a Friendship Link" was made.  This outlines the development of the link and how S.I. Birkenhead support Si.I Port Elizabeth with all the projects they are involved in. 

A cheque for R20,000 was presented to Matron Aggie from the House of Resurrection Aids Haven as an installment to the Building Fund for work to start on the conversion of one of the cluster homes.

A large quantity of baby clothes, school uniforms, stationary and toiletries were also presented for the projects, along with a large banner.
